Expertly designed, the Tech-Air® 3 V2 Leather System is Alpinestars’ motorcycle airbag system for road riders, with over‑ or under‑jacket wear. Featuring AI crash detection with six sensors and Category II PPE Level 2 chest and back protection, it inflates in milliseconds to reduce up to 95% impact energy. Premium softened leather and a sealed ECU enable all‑weather use, while the packable design adds everyday comfort and convenience.

Integrated sensor suite: 6 onboard sensors (triaxial accelerometer and gyroscope sets) deliver precise crash monitoring across dynamic riding situations, even when stopped.
AI crash detection algorithm: Intelligent deployment logic accurately decides when to inflate for active protection in street scenarios and varied conditions, including at a standstill.
Magnetic zip activation: Simple closure automatically arms the System, making readiness effortless before every ride.
Packable design: Slim vest compresses to store in a backpack, saddlebag, top case, or pannier when not in use.
Functional storage and adjustability: Right‑chest sunglasses pocket, glove loop at waist, elasticated side panels for comfort and expansion volume, plus an option to neatly fold and button away the airbag bladder for convenience.
Pocket layout: 2 zippered hand pockets, 2 zippered chest pockets, and an inner pocket keep essentials organized and secure.
Customization openings: Dedicated areas let riders add patches or embroidery to personalize the vest without affecting function.
Status interface with LED and haptic alerts: LED in the left chest pocket (with reflective backing) shows operational status, while vibrations confirm arming and warn of low battery for clear feedback.
Back protector pocket: Integrated compartment allows the addition of passive back protection for layered safety.
Compact ECU placement: Alpinestars’ Pro Second Generation ECU sits in an upper‑back pocket for sleek integration and balanced weight distribution.
App connectivity (BLE 5.0): Pair with the Tech‑Air® App to check system and battery status and view detailed ride maps via MyRide for enhanced insight.
Software updates: Manage and install the latest System software through the Tech‑Air® App to keep performance current.
Long‑life battery: Integrated lithium‑ion battery offers up to 40 hours of active ride time; about 4 hours to full charge, or roughly 8–10 hours from a 1‑hour top‑up, minimizing downtime.
Inflator location: Gas inflator sits in a housing at the rider’s left lower back for protected, accessible placement.
Removable components: Inflator housing, electronic wiring, and airbag are easily removable to simplify maintenance.
Serviceable consumables: Inflator canisters can be replaced by select Alpinestars dealers and certified Tech‑Air® Service Centers to keep you riding.
Care and cleaning: Vest is not washable; wipe with a damp cloth and refer to the User Manual for detailed maintenance to preserve performance.

Tech-Air® 3 V2 Leather System’s ECU seal-protection ensures all-weather performance and is certified to function between −20 °C and +40 °C.
The ECU has been tested and CE certified according to regulations for electronic, radio devices, and electrical safety.
The gas inflator cartridge is CE certified to UNI EN 16263, confirming compliance with the safety standard and certifying that the cartridges can be safely handled and serviced.
According to European statutory law, the CE mark is a conformity requirement for the marketing of this product. The following standards apply to this product:
When inflated, the Tech-Air® 3 V2 Leather System’s full chest and full back protection from the airbag is Category II certified PPE under European Regulation (UE) 2016/425, according to the relevant part of the EN1624-4:2013 airbag certification standard (Motorcyclists’ protective clothing against mechanical impact – Part 4: Motorcyclists’ inflatable protectors – Requirements and test methods), which guarantees an impact protection performance of not less than five seconds after activation. The impact attenuation performance is Level 2 for both full chest and full back.

1 Performance tested according to DOLOMITICERT S.c.a.r.l. M.115.001 Protocol for Airbag Protectors Rev.4_14 10 2018. The “first impact” test was performed in accordance with Dolomiticert Protocol where the airbag was tested within a speed range of 25 to 63 km/h. Designed to ideally be worn over a motorcycle jacket or garment, but can be worn under a motorcycle jacket as well, providing effective and practical protection for V-Twin riders, touring riders, urban city commuters, and weekend warriors who want to ride protected.

PROTECTION

Alpinestars’ crash detection triggering algorithm has been developed and refined with millions of kilometers of riding data and tens of thousands of crashes, allowing the System to accurately assess when to deploy the airbag ahead of an impact or other dangerous situation like a lowside, or highside crash.

In the event the Tech-Air® 3 detects the start of a crash, the system will activate the protective airbag in milliseconds, providing upper body protection, and reducing up to 95% of the impact energy transferred to the rider anywhere the airbag protects, which includes the full chest and back.

LED Display

A discretely hidden but easily visible LED display on the front chest indicates the Airbag System’s operational status, and incorporates a haptic alert, which vibrates to confirm the System is armed, as well as alerts the rider when the battery is running low.
